Tarab Trio are a Kurdish-German ensemble playing middle eastern music ranging from Anatolian folk songs, Ottoman court music and Balkan rhythms to Persian and Arab melodies. The band was formed in 2016 when German harpist Tom met two refugee musicians in his home town of Solingen: Azad plays the Persian santur (a small hammered dulcimer) and Saher is a distinguished singer of Kurdish epic ballads and Arab songs and also plays the long-necked saz-lute.
