Allan MacDonald

Allan MacDonald is an Edinburgh-based percussionist, who has performed and recorded with various artists in the Scottish and Irish music scene including with his father, Allan, the piper and Gaelic singer from Glenuig. Allan studied percussion at St Mary’s Music School and has since developed  innovative bodhrán-playing techniques and styles heard in other genres, including Jazz Latin, and Soul music. As a native Gaelic speaker, he adopts a sympathetic accompaniment style that focuses on providing subtle, yet intricate, musical support to singers and traditional musicians – a style he also promotes through his teaching work.
