Karen Marshalsay, Modern Trad Tunes. Weekend course.

April 1@1:00 pm - April 2@6:00 pm

Weekend Courses.

Saturday and Sunday: 2 sessions per day of 1½ hours  1:00pm & 4:30pm

While there are many fantastic old tunes, it’s very much a part of the tradition for musicians to write new ones. We have a wealth of fine tunesmiths among today’s trad players and many of them are publishing their own tune books or uploading to the internet. This class will look at arranging these new tunes for harp, many of which were written for fiddle, pipes, box or flute, adding ornamentation, chords, and everything needed to play these great tunes on clarsach. Ideas on how to choose, where to find the tunes and who the composers are. Full harp arrangements will be provided.
