TUTOR : FRANCOIS PERNEL From the age of 15, François had a dream of a very special harp. He tried to make it himself but realised he lacked some of the knowledge to construct such an instrument. In 2006, Philippe Volant, Breton harp maker, made The Chromatic Harp with 61 strings in line, no levers, no pedals tuned in semitones. Some jazz and contemporary music repertoires are now accessible due to the creation of this amazing instrument. It's also possible to play classical music with a tone similar to that of the Celtic harp with a beautiful warm resonance coming from this unusually long soundboard. This workshop will be an opportunity to hear "other music" on harp and have the opportunity to hear improvisation on this particular instrumentÉ yet another technical approach.
